Crucial issues

Identify local and relevant suppliers across multiple territories

The buyers of the Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC operate in a wide range of purchasing categories and respond to requests from very remote areas. As part of its CSR approach, a local criteria is expected, and buyers must then identify suppliers located in the same geographical area. In overseas departments, providers can be particularly difficult to find due to the lack of visibility on the local offer.

Business departments can call on them for recurring purchases as well as for one-time or urgent needs. In addition, buyers are sometimes required to source from very specific markets in which they have little knowledge.

The buyers carry out a sourcing for each request by completing the list of potential suppliers sent by the prescribing management. In the absence of a dedicated sourcing tool, buyers conduct their research online and call on other buyers in the group to verify that other suppliers have not already been identified.

Silex makes creating supplier panels easier, which
allows to challenge the suppliers that internal decision makers selected. It also allows to structure
our data, which is a major challenge for Purchasing teams.

Patrice Cunrath, Purchasing Manager at the Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC

The challenge

Improve market knowledge to strengthen procurement performance

Absence of

shared tool

Waste of time

and efficiency

Lack of relevant

and up to date data

Ineffective

or unsuccessful sourcing

Insufficient call

for competition

Weakening

of economic performance

Results

Enlargement of

supplier panels

On average 20 suppliers identified
versus 2 – 4 by the internal customer

Easier identification

of the adapted sector

Contractualization of an economically
efficient adapted company on Silex

Economic

performance

Increased competition and identification
of more economical alternatives

The expansion of sourcing allows Procurement to more easily challenge the suppliers proposed by the prescriber and to propose more effective solutions.

In addition, Silex’s enriched data has also allowed buyers to identify

companies in the adapted and protected sector to promote responsible procurement without sacrificing economic performance.

We have been asked to initiate a call for tenders on waste management. We have sourced both within the group, the other buyers of the other branches and banks, but also on Silex. Using the tool, we identified a new supplier from the adapted sector that no one else had found. Our decision-making body validated this solution, which was also the most efficient in economic terms. We are very sastisfied with the result.
